Saturday, January 11th - Calm Morning, Windy Afternoon

Another beautiful morning greeted us when we got up today.

We ate scrambled eggs and tomatoes for breakfast. I am going to try to eat my fill of these delicious vine ripened tomatoes so that it might be easier to wait for them once we return to Maryland.

Pied-billed grebes continue to swim around the edge of the lake near our lanai. We enjoy watching them. They are known to be vocal and are one of the birds that serenade us.

We saw a car today with a license plate from Ontario, Canada, that read “BBRR”. We didn’t have to look any closer to know that it was from a colder region.

While out geocaching, I found another wall mural to step into. This establishment has been closed, but it looks like it could have been a really fun place to visit.

The wind came up this afternoon and turned a sunny day to cloudy skies. Although the temperature reached 82°, we decided against going to the beach or the swimming pool—especially since it was a weekend. Instead we came back “home” and watched the NFL playoff games.

It has felt strange to me for the sunsets here to be almost an hour later than what they are at home and yet we are still in the same time zone. Often our dinner times are later since I seem to be tuned into the daylight and not the clock.

  1. I'm just thrilled the days are starting to lengthen... and contemplating growing some tomatoes again this year! :)
