Monday, January 13th – Not all work, but some play.

This day began with a morning of work and tasks. It was warm enough that we were able to set up our “office” on the lanai.

Later, Cordell did some cleaning around the condo. Staying true to my mother’s and grandmother’s habits which I inherited, I did the laundry because you always do it on Mondays!

There was also work being done around the outside of the condo. We are accustomed to seeing the landscapers cut and trim the grass. But, what we have never witnessed before was a worker with a “duster” wiping the outsides of our windows.

Lunch on the Lanai.

After lunch, we took a 5+ mile bike ride in the surrounding area. We made four stops to find geocaches, but our final destination was the tomato field where we picked our own tomatoes. These large fields contain plants in various growing stages. One huge field hasn’t even been planted yet.

During my conversation with the attendant, she told me that there would be tomatoes until the end of May. Then, they close down for the rest of the year. I asked her what people do for tomatoes when the growing season is over. She replied that she just doesn’t eat tomatoes because she can’t stand the ones that are available at that time.

My knees were tired by the time we got back even though all the terrain here is level. It is my hope that at the end of these three months, I will be able to bike longer distances.

I don’t think I will ever get tired of watching these beautiful sunsets.

  1. That is one thing I reallllllllllly wish we had more of around here! LEVEL ground! That trail I walked yesterday said you could bring bikes to it -- there is NO WAY I would pedal that trail! I think they must have meant ALL TERRAIN bicycles! I was actually thinking about that in one point where the terrain dropped at a pretty good clip and I wondered for a minute if I had missed the trail marker I was looking for.... cuz never mind getting UP it - I wouldn't have even pedaled DOWN it! LOL!
