Monday, January 6th - Foggy Morning

We have had a mixture of weather today. At 7:00 a.m., it was 68° and very foggy. I heard some airplanes flying overhead and figured that the visibility was better at the airport. However, after we looked at a few web cams in the area, they were all showed fog.

By late morning, the sun was shining brightly and the temperature had reached 82°. We ventured out to run a few errands. We went to Sun Harvest Citrus Market and spent quite a while looking around at all the merchandise and fruit that they offer. It was interesting to watch the shipping department assemble packages of fruit that people had ordered.

I mailed a package to my granddaughter who will be having her 9th birthday on Saturday. I put some gummy alligators in her box. We stopped in the grocery store yet again. I found packages of alligator fillets, but was not adventuresome enough to buy them.

Of course, there were geocaches near the places we went and we found one that was a bit different.

We are trying to fill in the empty dates on our geocaching calendar and it is so much easier to do it here where it is warm. Zero represents days where we have not found a cache.

After lunch, we took a walk through our neighborhood and we noticed some interesting things. We always chuckle at the 19 ½ hour mile speed limit signs. Cordell claims he can obey the 19 mph, but it is really hard to get to that ½ mile.

There are blue reflectors attached to the street surface and they indicate places where fire hydrants are located. I think this is a very good idea

One of the houses has a peacock lawn ornament that I like very much.

Clouds returned to the sky while we were walking and we could feel the temperature drop, but nowhere near as low as we hear is happening in Maryland and other parts of the nation. We will have a very cool day tomorrow, but then the temperatures are predicted to be in the 70’s and low 80’s by Wednesday and through the rest of the week.

We hope that our family and friends back north will stay warm and safe.
