It was 66° when I got up this
morning---warmer than the high temperature we had yesterday and that made me a
happy camper!
One good thing about
retirement is that we now have time to prepare breakfast and eat it together. We
like a variety of things and this morning it was sausage and eggs in a frame.
It was raining off and on so we
spent a quiet morning around the condo.
After lunch, it remained cloudy, but
the rain had mostly stopped so we ventured out to look for some more geocaches.
At one place, we got caught in a rain shower between our car and the cache
site. Luckily, there was a tree nearby that provided good cover and we were
able to stay dry while we waited for the shower to pass.
Another cache took us to the parking
lot at Caruso’s Eats and Treats, a small burger and ice cream business that has
no inside seating. We met the new owners, a young married couple who recently moved from Illinois and we found out that they are geocachers, too. The husband
claims to be a close relative to Enrico Caruso, but confesses that he cannot
sing like this great-great grandfather. They had one flavor of sugar free ice
cream, cinnamon caramel, and I had a dish of that. This was the first ice cream
I have eaten since I was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago. As many of
you know, we tend to eat ice cream while “living” in Florida.
When we returned to our condo, the
sun was shining like Florida sun is supposed to shine. We were not the only
ones happy to see the sun—an anhinga was soaking up the rays and drying his
wings. The birds on the lake were very active and we were serenaded with many
different songs, most of which were new to us.
