Tuesday, January 14th – Fort Myers Beach

We went to Fort Myers Beach today.

Our objective was to find a geocache that was hidden there and to leave a Travel Bug that we had retrieved from a cache in North Carolina. We picked up this particular bug because it had a goal to visit beaches in Florida.

The temperature reached 74°, but we weren’t ready to spend any time on the beach just yet. I only saw one person who was swimming in the water.

We saw a sign on the beach that advised people from May-October to shuffle their feet while in the water to avoid being stung by stingrays.

When we walked out on the fishing pier, we noticed several pelicans and other birds roosting there and they were not disturbed by people at all.

We enjoyed walking around this delightful beach town.

We saw a mime that was posed as a statute and I didn’t realize that he was a live person. There was a small suitcase lying beside him that had some cash put in by passersby. I commented that I did not like that at all because I felt like it took away from the statue. And then I was shocked and surprised when the statue changed poses!

I found this sign in a beach shop amusing--Send more tourists--They taste Great!

Cordell found a hat that gives him a thick head of hair.

We ate lunch at an outdoor café.

My chef’s salad was huge and I had more left over to bring home than what I actually ate.

We spent the late afternoon on the lanai watching a variety of birds and ducks that visited us.
