We awoke to a cloudy sky this morning and shortly afterward,
there was a rain shower. We decided to eat a leisurely breakfast and see what
Mother Nature had in store for us.
Cordell and I made a quick dash out to the nearby Publix and
picked up a few more groceries. We also made a side stop to pick up a geocache
to fill in this date on our calendar of found caches.
We all ate BLT sandwiches for lunch which seemed extra tasty
with the fresh tomatoes we picked yesterday.
It remained cloudy most of the morning, but by noon, the sun
finally broke through. Our excursion we planned to Sanibel Island was a go. The
twenty minute drive took us over a toll bridge and across a beautiful causeway.
People had parked their cars on the beach and many were standing in the water
while they were fishing.
This beautiful island is one of our favorite places and today
we decided to spend our time at Lighthouse Beach Park. The weather couldn’t
have been more perfect—very warm, but not too hot in the sun.
Andy spied a dolphin swimming very close to the shore—a fairly common site at many of the beaches in this area.
It has become our habit to stop at Pinocchio’s where Italian
ice cream is freshly made on site each day. Even though I bought a kiddie cup
size of ice cream, I wasn’t able to eat all of it. That wasn’t the case for the
rest of my family, but some of them did share a small cup.
After dinner, we played some cards and I learned
a new game. Before turning in for the night, we gave Corinne a catalog from a
big flea market here in Fort Myers that we had checked out a few weeks ago. She
seemed surprised at the size of the market and spent some time making plans for
the stores she wants to visit.
And so we all went to sleep with visions of all the bargains we were going to find dancing in our heads.

In all fairness, Pinocchio's servings are huuuuuumongous! That small cup hold about a triple serving of anywhere else! Glad you got to get out on the beach and have some fun! I DO love Sanibel!
