Friday, February 14th - Valentine’s Day

I seemed really quiet when we woke up this morning and the wind had calmed down. It was a chilly day and the temperature never got over 69°. We did not wear our shorts today.

I have prepared geocache to place here in Fort Myers, so today we put the finishing touches on it and took it to a place to hide it. The container is a small red empty candy tin. I have named it “I Left My Heart in Fort Myers”. I thought it was very appropriate to place it on Valentine’s Day.

Today was my turn to find fire ants. I never saw the ant hill, but I certainly realized in a hurry what had happened. Wow, those little critters can move quickly! Fortunately, they only got on one foot, but they made bee line up my leg on the inside as well as the outside of my jeans. I will be more watchful from here on.

We took a couple hours to look for some more caches placed by Pilot Searcher. All of them were very challenging in one way or the other. One required us to bushwhack and we were prepared with long pants and long sleeved shirts. We were searching in a very pretty area that reminded me of a jungle. Besides all the palm trees and shrubs, I saw a variety of plants. This must have been what Florida looked like when Ponce de Leon arrived here.

Our friends, Jim and Barb, left this morning to drive here and visit us. Their plans were delayed two days due to the snow storm that came through Maryland. Too bad, they couldn’t have left before it began snowing. They are expected to arrive at our condo on Sunday and it looks like there will be warm weather for them.
