We loaded up our bicycles again this morning and rode on two
trails where we looked for geocaches. This part of Florida has a lot of really
nice biking trails and they are well used not only by bikers, but also by
people walking, jogging and even skating. I am surprised how much space is
available to park our car when we access these trails.
Today was the first time I actually rode my bicycle across a
train track.
Some of the areas around the trails are quite pretty. Since
the land is so flat here, there are canals all over the place to drain the
water.
It was windy out today. However, a March wind here is very
much nicer than what I have experienced at home. It seemed that the wind was
always blowing in our faces no matter which direction we were biking. When we
stopped for lunch, I noticed that the flags at Chick-fil-A were almost
horizontal. While we were dining inside, I heard instrumental music playing in
the background and was pleasantly surprised when I recognized a well know
Christian song—Matt Redmond’s 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord O My Soul). I
wonder how long it will be before someone complains enough that the restaurant
will be forced to stop playing this type of music.
We stopped by the grocery store on our way back to the
condo. My cousin, Kurt and his wife, Ruthie are arriving tomorrow to spend a
week with us. They live near the mountains in Virginia and both of them are
ready to enjoy some warm weather.
Shortly after we got back to the condo, we discovered the
resident alligator sunning in our backyard. We have seen him swimming in the
lake several times and he was at the edge of our yard one other time. But
today, he was fully on the land and he looked huge to us.
