Our plans began long before the stores began putting up Christmas decorations and stocking seasonal merchandise. Yes, they started before the Thanksgiving turkeys were in the grocery stores and even before Halloween candy and costumes appeared. Before Labor Day, the Fourth of July and Father's Day, we were finalizing our plans to lease a condo in Florida for three months.
Just days after we returned home this past year after spending January and February in Bonita Springs, snow fell on my birthday, March 6th. I definiely did NOT come back north for that.
Southwest Florida is a popular destination for "snow birds" to wait out the cold weather. Finding a condo that was available and met our preferences took a lot of research. But, Cordell never gave up (just like when he is looking for a geocache) and he found a nice unit in Fort Myers. Once the cold weather arrived in Maryland, our thoughts turned south.
We will be leaving Maryland on Saturday, December 28th with no concrete plans other than checking into our condo on January 1st. For sure we will take breaks from driving and look for geocaches on our way!
