Brr-r-r—what a difference a
couple of days make!! After temps in the 70’s a few days ago, the 36 degrees
today was brutal. I am feeling like a true “snow bird” as I find myself wishing
I was already in Florida—especially when I see Facebook posts from friends and
family who are already there enjoying the warm weather.
We did look for one geocache this afternoon since we are trying to fill in calendar dates with at least one find. This one was close to home so it didn’t take very long for us to drive to the site. I have determined that I am not a cold weather geocacher.
We attended two services at our
church this evening. The choir sang a cantata, “Joy Around the World” and the
congregation joined in for several selections. It was a very enjoyable concert
with songs from other countries, spirituals and traditional hymns. Holy
Communion was offered at the late service and it concluded with the lights off
and the entire congregation holding lit candles and encircling the perimeter of
the sanctuary. It caused to me imagine what it must have been like in that dim
stable when baby Jesus was born.
It was a nice ending to this
Christmas Eve. I am so very thankful for family, friends, clothing, shelter and
the most important blessing of all, the gift of salvation through our Savior,
Jesus Christ.
